Dior’s Journey into the Sneaker Industry and Collaborations

Over the years, we have noticed that various high-end fashion houses are making a strategic move to enter the world of the sneakers industry. This trend is due to the global popularity of sneakers, so these fashion houses are expanding the market and offering different options for sneakers enthusiasts.

One of the luxury fashion brands that has contributed to the sneaker industry through its remarkable collaborations with successful sports brands is Dior. Dior, or Christian Dior SE, is a French luxury fashion brand founded in 1946 by Christian Dior. Dior is known for its elegant and unique sneaker designs.
Dior has been working on releasing different types of sneakers that fuse luxury and streetwear-inspired styles. The Dior B23 sneaker was first released in January 2018 and gained popularity among sneakerheads. It features a chunky rubber sole and eye-catching Dior patterns. Additionally, Dior has introduced the Dior Runner collection, which offers a comfortable and sleek design. It features breathable uppers and flexible outsoles, making it perfect for casual wear and sportswear.

In 2020, Dior took its first steps into the realm of collaborations with a leading sportswear brand ” Nike”. They created the iconic ” Air Dior” collection. The famous and limited-edition Air Jordan High OG Dior sneaker was characterized by combined elements from both brands. It came grey colored with an icy blue outsole, while the Dior pattern is embedded on the swooshes and the logo “Air Dior” branding throughout. Even though the price was retailed at USD 2000, this sneaker is the most sought-after in the market.

Apart from the collaboration with Jordan Brand, Nike, and Dior also planned to release other sneakers. One of them was the Nike Air Max 95, they unveiled it during Dior’s Fall/Winter 2020-2021 show. These sneakers feature premium leather construction, while the Dior branding is seen on the tongue and heel. Not only did Dior collaborate with these two brands, but it also worked with famous names and brands in the sneakers industry.

Dior has also teamed up with Converse, resulting in a luxurious sneaker. Converse is best known for its Chuck Taylor All-Star silhouette. This partnership featured a white classic Chuck Taylor All-Star silhouette embellished with the Dior pattern and logo throughout the pair. Dior’s use of high-quality materials and paying attention to smaller details is obvious in this collaboration.

Furthermore, in 2021, Dior collaborated with the Japanese streetwear label ” Ambush” which is known for its modern designs. Together, they created the Dior x AMBUSH B23 sneakers, featuring a high-top silhouette. Dior also worked with the artist ” Daniel Arsham”. They released Dior x Daniel Arsham B23 sneakers. It featured a translucent design with a Dior Oblique pattern and Arsham’s signature.

In conclusion, these few examples of Dior’s collaborations have added value to the sneakers markets. Offering elegant and luxurious designs to sneaker enthusiasts worldwide. Dior paved the way for other high-end fashion brands to welcome the streetwear and sneaker culture in their plans.
